Is It Freedom or Liberty, many search for?

I am glad your here!

First, allow me to share a story with you,

"Once upon a time, there was a hard working girl who got up at dawn every morning and drove an hour to work.  Her days were filled with deadlines and stress, and she arrived home each night after dark, exhausted.  At the end of each week her reward was [almost] enough money to live on…

She thought this was how the world worked.

Then on day, disaster struck with her family.  Her sister's house burned to the ground leaving her sister and two daughters homeless…but that's not all.  Her parents were both diagnosed with terminal illnesses and, with a limited fixed income, had no way to pay for their medial care.  Worse still, her niece developed a severe seizure disorder that no one seemed to be able to figure out.

She needed money,
She needed flexibility,
She desperately needed to help her family,

So this girl took a giant leap of faith — and quit her J.O.B. (Just over Broke)

She started her own Home Based Business, she jumped in head first, weathering the disbelief and derisive comments from those closest to her..she [closed her mind] to the negative inferences of those who feared for her and kept her eye on the goal.

As you may have guessed…

She succeeded through all the trials, doubts, mockery, and fear, and many, many moments of self doubt,  feelings of inadequacy, and yes, the many moments of tears…

What does that success and Independence mean to her?  It meant health care for her parents and her niece.  It meant her family could pay her mortgage and household bills on time.  It meant having the ability to step up to the plate and take care of her loved one's when they had no place else to turn, except family.

It meant being able to take that gut wrenching fear out of the eyes of her father.  He was her hero, and that alone was worth all the above trials.

Looking back over the years, she almost settled with the standard, taking what life was willing to [give] her rather than taking what she wanted out of this life..

What did starting her own Business mean to her… In the end it meant freedom and money to enjoy all the finer things in life, sure!, however, it was much more than that, it was a way of life.  It was an integral part of who she was – it's not [just] something you do.

It's a way of giving yourself to others in a way nobody else can, believe me, she and I, know first hand, we live it everyday.

Thank God, we had the faith, even though at times scared to death, to just say, yes, now we can say.

Thank God I did, not I sure wish I had"

Many say, they are searching for Freedom, I recently learned that a change in wording would be more accurate…

Here's what I mean,

Freedom is usually what most people want, and is what most people chase after their whole lives.  Freedom is seemingly so elusive due to the emphasis on not having it, when in reality, we ALL are free.  We can say anything we want, do anything we want, and go anywhere we want, but not necessarily in an easy and stress free fashion.

What people are REALLY striving for related to Freedom is in fact Liberty.  Liberty is defined by Dictionary.com is:

"Freedom from control, interference, publication, restriction, hampering conditions, etc.; power or right of doing, thinking, speaking, etc., according to choice."

This distinction is so important, yet very subtle…

So what does Independence, through FREE Enterprise mean to me?

It means Liberty.  It is the ability to go where I want, when I want, with whom I choose, at any time, no matter what the circumstances. It's Family.  Connecting with like minded individuals along similar paths, with integrity and a sense of purpose, drive and passion. It's the sharing of ideas, the supporting of each other, and the overall shared enjoyment of the finer things life has to offer.  It's traveling the world together, going on crazy adventures-jumping out of planes, skiing the craziest peaks in the deepest powder snow, throwing parties, having huge dinners, and enjoying other activities that sometimes aren't always shareable on Facebook.  [;-0}

It means being able to take care of the one's you love.  It means being self sovereign and in a position to make an impact where we direct our focus.  It means identifying synergies between people that once brought together make things happen in a measurable way.

Free Enterprise, in whatever form your choose, pursue Independence, whichever vehicle you choose to get you there, i fully support you in that effort.  Network Marketing with the right company has been my choice, since it allows you to come in, with minimal costs, and unlimited potential, and provide you with leveraged income.  I have done both brick and mortar businesses and spend my life with different network marketing companies, and have been with my current company for over 5 years…

WOW.  Its amazing how we use a word over and over again like FREEDOM…and never really stop and THINK about what we are saying. And then we read a message like yours and suddenly we are forced to stop moving day to day to day doing the same thing and never getting any further ahead AND THINK ABOUT WHAT WE WANT FROM THIS LIFE. Thank you for your messsage! How timely on a week when I was just thinking that I felt like the week passed me by. Some days WE are the voice of doubt and negativity you talked about…and then, a message like yours comes along to remind us….stay on your path, stay on your way, and LIBERTY can be yours too.
    thank you for such words!

I liked that you pointed out Liberty.  I've been told that the difference between Freedom & Liberty is the difference between a child banging on piano keys and a pianist playing the piano.  As a child the man had the freedom to sit down at the piano and bang on any keys he liked.  But since then he's put away childish things and learned Liberty. Liberty has limits but within those limits is a joy not found in freedom.  Liberty constrains and contains what we would do so that it's more than just banging on keys.  Now as a pianist he has Liberty which he bought with hard work and effort and because of that hard work and effort beautiful music flows from his fingertips instead of noise.

Thank You, Sir for the lesson on the differences between liberty and freedom. We choose
the path of  Freedom,  that allows us to make the attempts at becoming whatever
we want to become, and the freedom to try our hands at whatever opportunities we want to try,  Even though we have chosen to follow the path of  freedom, let me tel you FREEDOM AINT FREE! it's  WORK to be truly free,
work to be truly liberated from the bonds that hold most of us down.  We all must begin to think liberty for all and not just the few, so that we may all have the success that comes from
    Liberty and Freedom.

Great post Steve. I think we all subconsciously know that you can’t get rich by working for somebody else, all you do is help THEM to get rich. And by rich I mean not only money, but also the freedom to live the way you want, with the lifestyle you want. But the thing I like best is that if you’re not where you want to be, you just need to look into the mirror and ask “what’s up?” And once you’ve made this freedom thing work, you now have the liberty to spend time with the family if you want, take a walk on the beach, or just stop and smell the roses! Makes you wonder what’s wrong with all these people who are willing to settle for a J.O.B. , doesn’t it? ~ Anne
