The Power of [IT], are you using it?

By Steve On Under Author

Hi Yall !

That’s an Alabama term in case you were wondering…. Alabama is where I grew up, in many ways, it will always be home to me, roots as it were.

Before I get into what is on my mind and heart today, please do me a favor and if were not friends on my newsletter, I would love it if you value my mind dumps, to shoot an email to stevehoustononline@aweber.com, or just complete the opt-in box to the right here and become a part of my list.

Hopefully, when you do that it creates a bond, the start of a relationship, and by doing that we can learn from each other, me putting my thoughts here and you always adding your thoughts below, please ;-0), so that I can hear and understand what your thoughts are, and from that we can create a relationship, which is my only point in having this blog.

The Power of the word [ it ]….

A few days ago I was shopping in Frys, which happens many times during the week, I just love that place, well not the actual place, but what is in the place, do you get my drift? HA ;-0)

And I have to be honest I was in one of those rare moods where I was really just trying to be in another place, alone, focusing on electronic toys (BIG SCREEN TV’s and such), so I was not prepared to have a conversation about a company that I have spent the last 5 years in, and certainly was not in the sponsoring mode, so to speak.

This gentleman walked up to me and asked me rather intrusively….

Hey, how can I help you today?

On a side note, I have often asked myself, then when I was not getting an answer from myself, went to the restroom to see what is it about my appearance, that SCREAMS, that I NEED HELP !!! I don’t need help, I am just wondering, or as my mother used to say, window shopping, or killin time or wHaTeVer, get it… Maybe a better statement for the customer service manual is ” Is there anything I can assist you with today?

Okay, sorry back to the point.

I told the persistent salesman, no I was just LOOKING!, not ready to buy as of yet. I was really just out, clearing my head and brain dumping, I could not even tell you what I was looking at… Ever just gone out and your really mentally in another place? Well that was me.

Anyway back to the point of this post…

As I was walking away he tapped me on the shoulder and said…

Hey, I was in that once before…

And I said, in what?, my good friend was with me, and she said, your wearing your logoed shirt….

Ok, lesson here… if your just out to be left alone, DO NOT WEAR a BILLBOARD on your left chest… HA… Oh well I forgot.

And he points again to my left chest, and says my company name, left out of this post for obvious reasons….

And I said to him, REALLY??, why are you not still in the company?

And hereEeEEE we goO….!

He says to me.

[ IT ] did not work for me.

To that I snapped, well it WORKED FOR ME !! (ha, rare moment, I know)

And he says…

Well obviously.. must have been my personal development skills he was referring too. ;-0)

And I said to him, rather pointedly.

What is the IT, that did not work for you, IT is a company, IT doesn’t DO, anything, IT only provides you and I with great products or services, and an opportunity to “DO” something with our lives, that most us never have a chance to do, unless we come from a well heeled lineage and can buy a Mc Donald’s franchise or several of them… IT is not a living breathing organism, IT is a company, the IT that did not work is YOU…

and without regard to tack, I snapped back and said..

Dear friend, the only IT that did not work, was you…..

And therein lies my point of this conversation, are you the IT in your business?

Nothing works, unless you do, if it did, then all the accusations about mlm or network marketing would be true, it would be a scam or a get rich quick scheme (more on that at a later time)

If your given an opportunity to change your life and others, CEASE IT, and do the work, and you can LIVE THE DREAM or you can be the guys selling TVs at Frys, who is still blaming it on the [ IT ]….

Well, I hope you find this post inspiring, that’s it for today!

Hey listen, please do me a favor, and post your comments below, I live to hear from you, and your thoughts are valuable to me.
I look forward to your comments.

Answer this for me? Is it your company or you that determines your success?

A new twist on the “IT Factor”! A lot of people jump on opportunities expecting a gravy train. They are looking for quick fixes for problems that have been haunting them for years. IT just doesn’t work that way! Guess instant gratification is a way of life now. Can’t wait to read your book!

Great post! Really makes you step back and think!! Maybe for once people will take responsibility for their lack of following a business model that obviously works…

“It” is me. No matter where I have been or what position I have held over the years. From cleaning and dishware woman, maid, nanny, teacher or as an executive director. Service and caring for people has been the “It” factor. Even in non profit volunteering, helping rehabilitate troubled youth was no different than raising my owns sons. People want to be valued. In order to value someone you must also have a healthy perspective of your ownself. And must have the courage to make yourself a bit vulnerable to others. In speaking in public at lectures and seminars, “It” is a vulnerable me presenting myself as a reflection back to the audience, trying to empower the members to see their own”it” factor and helping them understand smiling, or baking a pie for someone is just as powerful as the doctor who goes around the world volunteering to repair cleft lifps. We all need to rely on our own “it’ factors and to let others shine as well. Keep doing what you are doing, Steve, because “It” is working for you.

“It” always comes down to you.If someone else has been successful in a business, you can be successful.
“If you do what they did you will get what they’ve got”
I think the “it “is having your heart in it. To expect success just because you signed up for an opportunity without putting your heart and soul behind it is foolish.

The secret of becoming rich is to do the opposite of what everybody else is doing.

Next time someone tells me "IT didn't work for me"….I'm going to say
"Hey, you need to drop the T in IT and repeat your statement!
Fortunately I value myself enough to work for ME!
